Disclosure
IPSA believes it is important that parents and families are informed and supportive about their child’s intersex variation, and to help them understand their bodies in an age appropriate and positive manner throughout childhood and adolescence. Mental health issues may arise due to stigmatising social and cultural ideas about sex, and non-disclosure of a child’s intersex status can lead to a sense of shame.
