Our bodies make different hormones throughout our lives. For many who have undergone surgical interventions, lifelong hormone replacement therapy may be required. These typically include estrogen, progesterone and/or testosterone treatments, which come in a variety of pills, injections, patches and gels. There is a link between HRT non-compliance and osteoporosis and estrogen-only HRT increases the risk of breast cancer when used for more than 10 years.
